Telecom Solution Vendor Flowroute Partners with SmartNode Maker Patton
Today, calling and messaging services specialist Flowroute announced a new partnership with network equipment manufacturer Patton, bringing the former's telecommunications expertise to the latter's range of voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) products. Flowroute tested Patton's SmartNode 4520 Series VoIP routers and SmartNode 5480 enterprise Session Border controller to support Flowroute's voice services, and Patton has joined the exclusive club that is Flowroute’s Certified Technology Partner program.
Flowroute offers several competitive features for businesses looking for an SIP trunking communications solution. Inbound calls are unlimited, and businesses pay only for the service they use. Businesses can also build up a collection of unlimited minutes and disperse them over a fixed number of inbound channels, including toll-free ones. For outbound calls, Flowroute utilizes the shortest path possible to ensure high voice quality.
The new partnership provides businesses that use Patton's VoIP devices access to Flowroute's SIP-based services such as caller ID display and advanced signaling for carrier-grade voice and messaging. Businesses can also take advantage of the traditional telephony interfaces—such as PRI, BRI, FXS, and FXO—built-in to Patton's SmartNode Series, with the ability to connect legacy devices with Flowroute's all-IP communication services.
"We're targeted on enterprises and developers who are building unique user experiences for their customers, in a way that requires direct control of telephone numbers, of calling capabilities, of messaging capabilities," says Dan Nordale, chief marketing officer at Flowroute. "Particularly as customers start in one channel and probably want to move to human interaction, the ability to integrate, the ability to click the dial, the ability to insert dynamically toll-free numbers into Web sessions, to basically hand off the context of the interaction to support—any of those types of unique user experiences often beg control over telecom resources."
Flowroute's unlimited channel capacity allows businesses to make their phone service scalable to their specific capacity needs. In addition, Flowroute enables businesses to add custom labels to call-detail records to improve call identification and management, customize caller ID on outbound calls, and implement call diversion. In the way of security precautions, the service allows businesses to authenticate outbound calls via an IP address white list, set a maximum outbound rate to prevent attackers from sending calls to high-cost destinations, and build a list of allowable destinations for regional focus.
"We provide as much control over how phone numbers are used, how communication is routed, how we deal with routing in situations when hiccups happen in the telecom network," Nordale says. "We have a lot of Patton technology that allows us to be extremely resilient.
"This partnership means tremendous reliability,” he adds. “A lot of what organizations are looking for in serving customers is impeccable, immaculate reliability. They never want issues in the infrastructure or technology issues to negatively impact the customer experience."
