Heroku Accelerates Cloud Adoption with Expanding Partner Ecosystem

Heroku, provider of the Ruby platform as a service (PaaS),  is partnering with Accenture and Pivotal Labs to provide technical expertise and resources to businesses choosing the Heroku Ruby cloud application platform.

The Heroku Partner Program is geared toward helping systems integrators, consultants, and design firms use Heroku to meet clients’ need for scalable Web, mobile, and social applications. More than 50 technology businesses are participating in the program.

Heroku’s Partner Program includes developers, domain experts, educators and trainers, architects, consultancies, customers, and technology providers. The Heroku Partner Program joins the Heroku Add-on Provider Program, which launched in 2010 to allow developers access to Heroku’s cloud services. The Heroku Add-on Provider Program provides services and technology for Web application development. Recent technologies added to the program catalog include video encoding and transcoding from Zencoder and IndexTank, a scalable search solution currently used by Reddit and Wordpress.com.

By working with these partners, we are able to expand the number of customers who are taking advantage of the Heroku platform, and these partners are able to deliver the value of cloud platforms to their clients.”

Sebastian describes Accenture as “a great example of a firm who is building some of the most complex applications for the some of the most demanding and largest enterprises in the world."

Sebastian also notes that applications are now becoming more flexible as many developers and customers adopt cloud platforms. He also describes the apps today as more relevant to users because they are so easy to consume in conjunction with social networks, smartphones, and tablets.

"The cloud enables a much more efficient and results-focused way of delivering applications and platforms to enterprises," Sebastian concludes. "It's much easier to manage, administer, and improve applications if they are running in the cloud, and cloud platforms like Heroku make it much easier for apps to use the latest architectures and capabilities that users demand."
