Autonomy Rolls Out Big Data Solutions in the Cloud
Autonomy, an enterprise software company that was acquired by HP last year, unveiled today a series of cloud-based solutions designed to help organizations generate greater return on their big data initiatives.
Based on HP's Converged Cloud and Autonomy IDOL 10, these solutions include new capabilities for processing Hadoop data and a new clickstream analytics solution.
Customers and software vendors can now embed the IDOL 10 engine in each node of Hadoop, the open source framework system, and take advantage of more than 500 IDOL functions, such as automatic categorization, clustering, and hyperlinking. Organizations can also combine Hadoop data with other enterprise and external data by leveraging IDOL's 400 connectors. By embedding IDOL 10 within Hadoop, organizations automatically gain access to the processing power, conceptual understanding, and diverse data sets enabled by Autonomy IDOL and Vertica technology.
"Autonomy and Vertica offer an unparalleled platform from which to automatically understand, optimize, and act on 100 percent of an organization's data," said Rafiq Mohammadi, CEO of meaning-based marketing at the Promote division of Autonomy, in a statement. "Today's announcement further extends this platform, by enabling organizations to get more value from their Hadoop deployments, and blend clickstream data with unstructured, human information."
Autonomy is also extending its digital marketing platform with Autonomy Optimost Clickstream Analytics, which enables marketers to receive a consistent view of visits, conversions, customer engagement, and granular clickstream data. Marketers can also blend this data with unstructured data and a third-party visualization technology like QlikView or Tableau, or write their own custom user interface.
Despite the recent news that HP will be laying off about 2,700 employees this year and Autonomy founder and CEO Mike Lynch Autonomy is leaving HP, Autonomy is doing well, according to Andrew Joiner, CEO of multichannel technology at the Promote division. "We've been on a different trajectory compared to the rest of HP," Joiner said during a phone interview. "Given our high-margin business, we've been trying to hire as much staff as we possibly can."
