Alteryx Extends Data Integration Partnership with Microsoft

Alteryx, a provider of self-service data analytics, has extended its relationship with Microsoft to enable data analysts to prepare, blend and analyze data using Alteryx Designer in a pre-configured virtual machine that will run on Microsoft Azure.

Alteryx Designer is available for instant access and enables data analysts to use drag-and-drop workflows. Analysts can take advantage of the cloud-computing power offered on Azure to scale performance of their data prep, data blending, and analytic processing.

"Alteryx continues to be the go-to platform for self-service data analytics," said Paul Ross, vice president of international and channel marketing at Alteryx, in a statement. "Similar to the Alteryx and Microsoft Power BI integration, now Alteryx and Microsoft will make it easier for data analysts to blend data, perform predictive and spatial analytics, and then analyze everything at scale in a high-performance Azure cloud environment."

Running Alteryx Designer as a virtual machine deployed on Azure empowers analysts to use Alteryx Designer's self-service data analytics capabilities. In addition, analysts will also have instant access to pre-configured workflow samples for Alteryx and Power BI.

"We have seen a growing number of analysts using Power BI to take advantage of the self-service analytics approach by Alteryx," said James Phillips, corporate vice president of the business applications, platform, and intelligence (BAPI) organization at Microsoft, in a statement. "Now, many more users can accelerate their time to insight combining Alteryx and the Microsoft Azure platform for added scalability and performance in the cloud."

Using Alteryx Designer, data analysts can build out scalable workflows to automate data blending and preparation, including orchestrating in-database analytics in SQL Server. Users can deliver enterprise-scale predictive analytics using Microsoft Revolution R, as well as harness Microsoft Azure Machine Learning to perform text analytics in analytic workflows using a drag-and-drop interface.

The overall relationship between Alteryx and Microsoft offers deep integration between Alteryx Analytics and SQL Server 2014 (also SQL Server 2012 and SQL Server 2008), and in late 2015 the two companies announced Alteryx integration with Microsoft Power BI and future collaborations between Alteryx Analytics and other Microsoft analytics products, including many of the components of Azure and the Cortana Analytics Suite.
